Maple Creek Construction Unveils New Website
Showcasing Excellence in Project Delivery

Maple Creek Construction launched our new website in October, highlighting the company’s expertise in commercial construction management across the Midwest. The website, developed by Milwaukee’s Brew City Marketing, demonstrates MCC’s commitment to transparency and efficient project delivery while showcasing our portfolio of completed projects.

The site’s centerpiece is MCC’s innovative Path to Completion® process, which emphasizes efficient construction techniques and proactive problem-solving. “We get the hard stuff done” comes to life through detailed case studies of several complex projects, including large hotels, restaurants, and multifamily developments. We describe how each project required careful coordination of components such as new plumbing, electrical, and mechanical systems, while battling against weather elements and supply chain and labor shortages due to the pandemic. In short, we highlight our ability to successfully deliver great projects to satisfied developers and investors, regardless of conditions.

“Our new website reflects who we are – efficient, transparent, and focused on results,” says Chris Herschleb, MCC’s president. “It demonstrates our commitment to transforming development visions into reality while strengthening the communities we serve. We wanted to show not just what we build, but how we overcome challenges and deliver exceptional results for our clients.”

Featured Project: Reedsburg Pizza Ranch

MCC is excited to announce our latest project, a new commercial plaza featuring a Pizza Ranch, in Reedsburg, WI. Groundbreaking for the 10,535 square foot plaza was held Oct. 17.

“This is an exciting development for us,” said Ken Hanson, VP of Construction. The Pizza Ranch will occupy 7,407 square feet of the new plaza, including the restaurant’s iconic FunZone family gaming facility, and is based on the restaurant chain’s latest design concepts. “We have built many Pizza Ranch locations across the Midwest and are honored to be a part of this successful concept.”

MCC is working with many local subcontractors in the Reedsburg area, benefiting the local economy and contributing to the community. “That’s just something that we always try to do,” Hanson said.

MCC is partnering with Grass Roots Management and KMD Development on the project, which is expected to be open in late spring 2025. The project also includes 3.128 square feet of future retail space.

Team Member Spotlight

Justin Sterwald, Construction Superintendent

Justin has been a construction superintendent at MCC since 2023. With a hands-on approach to his work, Justin enjoys tackling construction projects both professionally and in his personal life, constantly honing his skills. When he’s not overseeing projects, he enjoys spending time in his workshop, where he loves to build and create. Learn a little more about Justin:

Work background: “I worked at Lorman Iron and Metal, a scrap metal processing operation in high school part time and started full time after college.”

Work I am most proud of: “Completing my first build working for a commercial general contractor in Burlington constructing a Pizza Ranch. The whole build process went very smoothly, and we provided a great product in the end.”

When I started working at MCC: “In July of 2023. My girlfriend (Helen Klock) worked at MCC for several years, so I knew the team and was excited to join MCC.”

What I like most about working at MCC: “I like being part of large commercial projects and sense of accomplishment after completing a high-quality build.”

What I like doing in my spare time: “Spending time with family, deer hunting, and working on projects at home.”

Family: “Girlfriend (Helen), 3 kids, 1 dog, 2 inside cats, 6 outside cats, and several quail.”

Most interesting thing that’s ever happened to me: “This was not fun, but recently I was bitten by a bat (when doing some remodeling work at home) and had to go through the series of rabies shots. Fortunately, I am fully recovered and have zero side effects.”

Favorite food: “Hamburgers. The Red Robin burger with an egg is a favorite.”

Favorite place to visit: “Glacier National Park, for hiking. It’s a beautiful location in the mountains, with clear blue water in the lakes. I saw lots of black bears and a grizzly cub.”

Dream vacation: “Mount Everest. I want to climb Mount Everest someday, although I realize that might not be feasible.”

Something that very few people know about me: “I have a bachelor’s degree in Business Management.”

MCC’s 2025 Project Pipeline: Continuing Great Momentum from 2024

Maple Creek Construction is poised for exceptional growth in 2025. Our proven Path to Completion process, experience and key partnerships position us perfectly to navigate challenges like inflation and elevated interest rates.

“We’re built for these market conditions,” says Chris Herschleb, MCC’s president. “Our approach and value engineering expertise help us deliver cost-effective solutions without compromising quality. We work closely with suppliers to secure materials early and identify alternative products when needed, protecting our clients from supply chain disruptions.”

“We are lean and mean,” said Ken Hanson, MCC’s senior project manager. “Our experience with similar projects, and our knowledge, allows us to mitigate costly mistakes like budget overruns and overdesign.”

The 2025 pipeline reflects strong demand across MCC’s core markets. Several new restaurant projects are underway, while we expect our hotel portfolio to continue to expand. We are also seeing increased activity in multifamily housing, particularly in growing Wisconsin markets.

Here is a snapshot of a few 2025 projects:

  • Reedsburg, WI – Commercial Plaza with Pizza Ranch: New construction, 10,535-square-foot plaza, including 7,407-square-foot Pizza Ranch and FunZone
  • Round Lake Beach, IL – Pizza Ranch: New construction, 8,000-square-foot restaurant, including FunZone, expected to open June 2025
  • Williston, ND – Pizza Ranch: New construction, 9,072 square-feet, including FunZone
  • Jefferson, WI – Condominiums: Nine, Six-unit condominium buildings
  • Central WI – Hotel: 82-room new hotel

In addition, MCC is forging partnerships with new developers and investors who recognize our track record of successful project delivery. Our experience with similar projects allows us to anticipate and prevent costly mistakes, ensuring projects stay on budget and schedule.

To support this growth, we are expanding our team of superintendents and key personnel. “Our people are our greatest asset,” Herschleb notes. “We’re always looking for talented individuals who share our commitment to excellence.” Coming off a strong 2024, MCC is well-positioned for an even better 2025. Our efficient approach, experienced team, and proven processes give us confidence in delivering outstanding results for our clients in any market conditions.

Season’s Greetings!

Maple Creek celebrated their 2024 Christmas extravaganza on December 6th at the elegant Concourse Hotel in Madison. The festivities kicked off with an engaging all-employee meeting in the hotel’s boardroom, setting the stage for an unforgettable day. As the sun set, spouses joined the merriment for a delightful cocktail hour and hors d’oeuvres in the exclusive Governors Club, followed by an intimate dinner. The night crescendoed with a mesmerizing dueling pianos performance at The Ivory Room. Truly, an enchanting venue for a magical evening!

Winter Safety Tips

At Maple Creek Construction, we recognize that winter weather conditions across the Midwest present unique challenges to commercial construction projects. Operating in cold-weather climates in states including Iowa, Wisconsin, Minnesota, South Dakota, and Michigan, we have developed industry-leading safety protocols that not only protect our workers but also ensure project efficiency and quality during the most challenging months of the year. Here are some winter safety tips that can keep you safe at home!

  • Walk slow and carefully on snowy, icy walkways
  • Stretch before shoveling snow
  • Avoid over exertion
  • Stay dry! Wet clothes lose insulating value and transmit the cold rapidly
  • Watch for signs of frostbite; loss of feeling and white or pale appearance in extremities
  • Stock up on antifreeze, windshield wiper fluid, & gas.
  • Clear snow from the top of the car, headlights & windows
  • Ensure furniture is not blocking any heating vents through the house.
