In 2024, we completed the remodel of the Pizza Ranch restaurant in Lake Delton, WI, a space originally built by us in 2014. This 226-seat restaurant needed a complete refresh, and the timeline was tight. The restaurant was set to close on a Friday night, with the goal of reopening the following Sunday. The remodel scope included new paint, light fixtures, flooring, bathroom stalls, and refinishing detailed Prairie Grid doors.

Planning and Executing a Time-Sensitive Restaurant Remodel

To meet the deadline, careful planning was essential. The project involved updating fixtures, furniture, equipment (FFE), and adding window tinting, while also refinishing 18 doors. Rather than replacing the doors, which would have cost around $30,000, we opted to refinish them, saving the client nearly $16,000. In addition to this, the interior was fully repainted, giving the restaurant a refreshed, modern look. Despite the aggressive schedule, the restaurant remodeling project was completed a day early, giving the restaurant plenty of time to prepare for reopening.

Handling Challenges During the Remodel

One of the key challenges during the remodel was tinting the restaurant’s windows. The client requested a darker tint to enhance the atmosphere. However, since the windows had built-in blinds, darkening the tint further could have caused heat buildup and potential damage to the glass. This led to an important takeaway: testing one window for approval before applying the tint to the entire restaurant. This approach saved time and minimized risk.
