President’s Message:
Looking Back and Moving Forward

Construction has a way of keeping your foot on the gas. There’s always another project to bid, another schedule to meet, another problem to solve. We spend so much time looking ahead that we rarely stop to look back.

Twenty years is a good reason to do just that.

Maple Creek started in the basement of a Cousin’s Subs in Edgerton, Wisconsin. I can still remember walking into the office in those early days hoping the lights would turn on and the phone lines would work. Those early days taught us how to be lean and mean financially, a lesson that has served us well for the past twenty years.

One piece of advice from those early days has stayed with me ever since.

Someone much wiser than me said, “Finding work won’t be your biggest challenge. Dealing with people will.”

At the time, I wasn’t sure what he meant. Twenty years later, I’m still learning just how true those words are.

Construction is, and always will be, a people business. The buildings are what people see. The people behind them are what made it all possible.

When I look at where MCC is today, one thing is obvious. We didn’t get here alone.

My family stood beside me from the very beginning, sacrificing more than most people will ever know.

To our employees, thank you. I’ve always believed you can teach someone how to build a building, but you can’t teach someone to care. Thank you for caring. Thank you for taking pride in your work, solving problems, supporting one another, and representing MCC the right way every day. You are the reason MCC has earned the trust of our clients and the reputation we enjoy today.

To our trade partners, developers, owners, architects, engineers, and the many others who have trusted us over the years, thank you for being part of our journey.

Every challenge, every lesson, and every person who has crossed my path has made me a better person and MCC a better company. For that, I am truly grateful.

We’ve spent twenty years with our foot on the gas. This anniversary gave us a chance to pause and appreciate how far we’ve come.

Now it’s time to get going on the next twenty years.

Featured Project: DeForest Hampton Inn
Opening Summer 2026!

MCC and its project partners are making excellent progress toward a summer opening of the Hampton Inn in DeForest. Final landscaping is underway, and furniture installation is nearing completion as the hotel enters the final stages of construction.

The hotel’s opening comes at an exciting time for the community, positioning DeForest to welcome several major events, including the 2026 Special Olympics Wisconsin Fall Games, the 2027 WIAA Boys and Girls State Hockey Tournaments, and the Madison Capitols’ relocation to DeForest.

This project is a testament to the dedication and collaboration of the entire development team, City staff and elected officials, subcontractors, and skilled tradespeople whose hard work has made this milestone possible. Their collective efforts will deliver a valuable new asset that will support tourism, economic growth, and community events for years to come.

Employee Spotlight:

The People Behind 20 Years of Success

Twenty years is a milestone worth celebrating, and every employee has helped move MCC forward. Whether it’s managing projects, coordinating behind the scenes, solving problems in the field, or keeping the office running, everyone plays a part in what we accomplish. The work we do depends on people who are willing to step in, work together, and take pride in doing a good job.

As we’ve grown over the years, our team has changed, but one thing has stayed the same: our commitment to delivering quality work and building strong relationships with our clients and trade partners.

Reaching 20 years isn’t about one person; it’s the result of the contributions of every employee who has been part of MCC’s story. Thank you to our current team and to those who helped shape the company along the way. We’re looking forward to building on that foundation for years to come.

Company Culture:
MCC Having Fun and Giving Back

MCC’s commitment to building strong communities extends well beyond the projects we develop. This quarter, our team had the opportunity to support two outstanding organizations through local community events that combined a little fun with a meaningful purpose. At the Pizza Ranch Vendor Show, our “Plinko for a Purpose” game raised funds for the Miracle League of Dane County, with every dollar amount landed on the Plinko board donated directly to the organization.

Our team also proudly sponsored the taco bar and a ring toss game at the Out of Office Open golf outing benefiting Habitat for Humanity of Dane County. The event brought together community members and local businesses in support of affordable housing, ultimately raising $2,000 for an organization that makes a lasting impact on families throughout our region. We’re grateful to everyone who participated in both events and are proud to be part of a company culture that values giving back, strengthening our communities, and making a positive difference beyond the workplace.

 Safety Corner:

Summer means longer days and warmer temperatures, making heat-related illnesses a real concern on the jobsite.

A few simple habits can make all the difference:

  • Drink water throughout the day—not just when you’re thirsty.
  • Take breaks in shaded or cool areas when needed.
  • Wear lightweight, breathable clothing and sunscreen.
  • Watch for signs of heat exhaustion in yourself and your coworkers, including dizziness, headache, nausea, or excessive fatigue.
  • Speak up if something doesn’t feel right. Looking out for each other is one of the best safety practices we have.

Working safely in the heat helps ensure everyone goes home healthy at the end of the day.
